About Fred McClure

Fred served four years in the United States Air Force and four years in the United States Navy, including two terms of service in Viet Nam. He received the Viet Nam Service Medal and a Meritorious Unit Citation while serving on the river boats.

After his service in the armed forces, he settled in Davidson County and married the late Jan Ward McClure of Thomasville. Their family now consists of 2 grown children and 3 grandchildren. Fred started McClure Insurance Agency in Lexington, North Carolina in 1975.  He has always been dedicated to his family, the service of his community and his business.

Fred is a member of The First Alliance Church, where he serves as an Elder, Adult Sunday School teacher, Choir member and CARE group leader. He coached Jr. Varsity basketball for Sheets Memorial Christian School for 15 years, and is presently helping with little league ice hockey.

Fred's hobbies are golf and Corvettes.

Fred was elected  Davidson County County Commissioner in 1994. He is currently serving or has served on the boards of the following organizations:

The most memorable experience of his life was the honor of placing a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Arlington Cemetery.
